Pancreatic cancer is tough – tough to diagnose, tough to treat and tough to research. And, in the uncertain times we’re currently experiencing, things have become even tougher for people with pancreatic cancer.

I’m taking on Challenge 24 at home to raise money for this vital cause because 24 people are still dying every day from pancreatic cancer.

Challenge 24

Hi all, November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month & this year I’ve decided I would like to raise the awareness about this type of Cancer.

Cancer is devastating for everyone, whether you’ve had it yourself, watched someone you love live with it or sadly know someone who has lost a battle with cancer, unfortunately it’s all too common. 

Pancreatic Cancer is particularly tough to diagnose, tough to research & sadly has an extremely low survival rate of just 7%. 

This November marks 16 years since I lost my Dad to PC. He started out with just some mild symptoms in the July & after trips to the GP & hospital in September just two days before his 50th birthday, we were given the devastating news he had  Pancreatic Cancer. He lived just another 7 weeks & died on the 3rd November leaving my Mum, Uncle G, Sister & I truly heartbroken. At the time of his death, the survival rate then was 5% so despite a further 16 years of research, the survival rate sadly is still very very low.

In November my Challenge 24 is to run 24 miles in 24 days whilst raising money for this charity. Not only will it give me a focus as we face another period of lockdown but if it can highlight the symptoms, help with early detection & help someone else live a little longer than my Dad did then it will be worth it.
