Half Marathon

We're running a half marathon in memory of my lovely Mum and to raise much needed funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK

Pancreatic cancer is mainly so deadly because it's caught too late (80% are diagnosed when the cancer has become incurable). This charity are funding critical research to catch it sooner, and therefore allow people to access treatment.

I'd have given anything to hear better news about my mum's prognosis and have her here for years to come. I want to help to make this a reality for other families in the future. There's also a genetic element to it and so this vital research may even save my life in the future.

They were also such a lifeline for me as someone who was suddenly thrust into the world of being a carer for someone with cancer. I just was so lost and they offered clear advice and I could talk to a nurse when I needed to. The staff are incredible and I won't ever forget how happy my mum was to hear she could eat a single piece of chocolate without needing to take 'bloody creon' (medication) after it.

So, me & Joe are both running half a marathon (21km/13 miles) in a couple of weeks time! We have been training since January and it has been grueling physically and mentally - you can't just rock up and run one it really has been a long journey. Doing this whilst grieving has been no joke.

If you're able, please sponsor us and donate to this incredible charity. I write this after completing my first 16km so I need a boost please! If you're unable to donate, please share, or even come on the day and cheer (you'll never know the true value of a clap until you do a park run). If you're wanting to come along just message me/ Joe for details!

My donations could fund...

36 hours with a nurse on our Support Line

or

16 hours of early diagnosis research

My Updates

Blown away

Thank you so much - we are so shocked to see donations still pouring in. We are almost at double our original target now in less than two days (including gift aid). It's just incredible, thank you everyone x

Thank you all so much!

We can't believe it! In less than a day we have reached our target of £500! Thank you all SO SO much! ❤️❤️
It's meant the world seeing all the donations come in. We are in no doubt most of this has only happened because my mum was such a legend, remembered by many over the years. That is the thing that's meant the most seeing these donations fly in that she's remembered and held dear by so many (for lots of reasons from being a fab friend to shouting 'oggy oggy oggy' in gym classes unprompted 😂).
I know a few have donated as they have known people too effected by this horrible disease. I will think of the people you've lost during my run and do it for them too.
We are well and truely spurred on now for the half marathon! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
I've tried to thank everyone personally but the last donation that tipped us over the edge was anonymous - whoever you are know you got a very excited cheer as we got over the target amount.

WOW! Over half way in just a day!

We are beyond thankful to everyone who has donated & shared so far! We did not expect to get over half-way in just a day - this is what we've raised together so far.

16km / 10 miles!

In January I could run 5km after doing couch to 5k each spring (then having to start again next spring because I was not a winter runner). Enter the idea of this and I had to become a winter runner. I had to have a couple of months out of training (in spring ironically) for a running injury then had to work back up before tackling the big runs. Today I managed 16km which feels absolutely huge!

Thank you to my Sponsors
