In memory of Bernard Stimpson
This September, I'm walking a minimum of 84km for the 84 people who die from pancreatic cancer every 3 days in the UK.
This year I sadly learnt that Bernard, Dad to my bestie, had Pancreatic cancer. From diagnosis to his passing were mere weeks. Bernard was taken too soon from his loved ones.
Pancreatic cancer is the deadliest common cancer in the UK.
Pancreatic cancer is a silent killer and is not discriminatory in who it takes.
Bernard was a wonderful human being! He was a proud family man, a devoted husband, father and grandfather. A true Norfolk gent with a cheeky twinkle in his eye. He was kind and caring, there in a moments notice.
Right now, 31 people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every day in the UK.
So this September, I'm challenging myself to get up, get moving and walk a minimum of 84km to remember Bernard who was like a second dad to me. I will also stand with those affected by pancreatic cancer.
I will try to use the weekends to walk longer distances, whilst days working at school shall see shorter walks after work.
