I'm fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.
On the 23rd March 2021, my mums heart stopped beating and mine broke. I lost my mum to pancreatic cancer. My journey coming to terms with the loss of her, is still on going.
UK Facts
In 2017 – 2019 there were approximately10,800 cases of pancreatic cancer.
In 2021 – 2023, there were 10,100 deaths from pancreatic cancer. That’s 28 every day.
4.3% survive pancreatic cancer for 10 years or more (2018).
Pancreatic cancer is the 10th most common cancer accounting for 3% of all new cancer cases (2017 -2019)
For females in the UK, Pancreatic cancer is the 5th most common cancer (2021 -23)
For males in the UK, Pancreatic cancer is the 5th most common cancer (2021 – 23)
The projection for pancreatic cancer incidences is for cases to rise by 5% in the UK between 2023 – 2025 and 2038 – 2040
1 in 59 UK females and 1 in 55 UK males will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in their lifetime (born in 1961)
Famous people that have died from Pancreatic cancer
Aretha Franklin, Willie Carson, Terry Hall, Sir John Hurt, Steve Jobs, Michael Landon, Frank McGarvey, Luciano Pavarotti, Pete Postlethwaite, Alan Rickman, Andy Rourke and Patrick Swayze to name but a few. Pancreatic cancer doesn’t discriminate. It takes the lives of the rich and famous just as much as the everyday person.
If by raising this money it helps to fund further testing to help with earlier diagnosis, cure and even prevention of this cruel, unforgiving and brutal disease, then shaving my head will be worth every penny I can raise.
My donations could fund...
3 hours with a nurse on our Support Line
or
1 hour of early diagnosis research
