I am fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

24 people die from Pancreatic Cancer in the UK every single day. This is a disease that is virtually impossible to diagnose until the disease is already terminal and too late to treat, meaning that only 27% of patients will live past the first 12 months of diagnosis, and only 7% make it through 5 years.

My beautiful mum, Angela, was diagnosed 27th November 2017, and passed away 5 months later on 12th April 2018, just 3 weeks before her 57th birthday.

There were no treatment options available and the pain she suffered will never leave my mind.

She was gone too soon, and it begs the question, why is this cancer so impossible to diagnose and treat? Why are so many others suffering and losing their lives to one of the most painful types of cancer without a fighting chance?

There is ongoing research into this cancer, but government funding is not providing it, therefore finding a cure horrifically relies on the public, and family members left behind.

I am going to walk for 24 miles in a day (representing the amount of lives lost in the UK daily to this abhorrent disease) , with the aim to raise as much money as possible to donate to Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Any amount raised is a success, and I hope that you will be able to support the vital research for Pancreatic Cancer patients and their family members to have a brighter future.

This will never bring my mum back or the millions of loved ones that have been taken too soon, but I hope that we can one day, find a cure or at least an efficient diagnostic tool to prevent this suffering.

I will be doing this walk on 10th July.

Thank you.
