Samuel Davies Pancreatic Cancer Fundraiser

By Samuel Davies

I am fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Pancreatic cancer is tough – tough to diagnose, tough to treat and tough to research. And, in the uncertain times we’re currently experiencing, things have become even tougher for people with pancreatic cancer.

During my battle against chronic pancreatitis and accessing support I have met several people with pancreatic cancer. I wanted to do something to help.

I’m taking on Challenge 24 at home to raise money for this vital cause because 24 people are still dying every day from pancreatic cancer. I intend to do a 30 minute home work out and a 30 minute run on alternate days, 24 days. Those who know me well will know what a challenge this is for me, not just the individual challenges but the self discipline to maintain it!!

Please support me and my fundraising. Together we can make a difference and fund life-saving research.

My donations could fund...

6 hours with a nurse on our Support Line

or

2 hours of early diagnosis research

My Updates

#day11 #challenge24

The face of a man defeated... Knee buckled about 5 minutes in, kept a jog up as long as I could but walked/hobbled last half... Poor time, sore knee, nowhere near enough sweat lol. Although according to Strava it was my best pace yet 🤷🏻‍♂️ I must run really bloody slowly 😂😂

#day10 #challenge24

Half hour freestyle workout, smashed out sets of 20 situps, pushups, steam engine squats, and 30s planks in between

#day9 #challenge24

Muggy, wet, accompanied by #Pickle who discovered that it's always the second one that's hardest! So a bit slower and cut a touch short - Sunday I'm going for #OdinsHorse on my own which will easily make up for any short fall.

#day8 #challenge24

Mixed it up a bit today, need to stay off legs as much as possible on upper-body days, so found 3x10minute workouts 🏋️ with BullyJuice on YT - arms, shoulders and chest. Kids lasted for the warm-up lol, Lyra went a bit green trying to plank 😂😂

#day7 #challenge24

Back at it, knee feels OK - The same route as last time as had the eldest daughter (6) with me... she jogged all the way and we made the same time as I did on me own... very impressed!

#day6 #challenge24

Tried a different route as needed to pop to shop... No where near long enough so went past our road and round the block... Still a touch under but as I'm going to head for Odin's Horse on Monday I will make it up then.

#day5 #challenge24

I am not going to give up but am thoroughly depressed with the state of my upper body strength.... Found some dumbells on amazon for payday, need to remedy this, result of 25 years inaction! Anyway, 30 mins done... Onwards!! Oh and to cap it off I received my T-shirt from the charity so from now on will be donning purple for most days!

#day4 #challenge24

Second run, did not think legs were up to it but amazingly made a better pace!! Aimed for a bit of culture and to reach Odin's Horse but its further than it looks. Got lost on an industrial estate but again timed perfectly. See you tomorrow!

#day3 #challenge24

Sadly second workout not much better... My arms are weak!! But persevered again, 20 minutes following YouTube upper body workout then a top up of situps and planks. Legs very stiff and sore but determined to keep going! Kids joined in today, put me to shame!! Second run tomorrow!

#day2 #challenge24

First run completed! Slow and steady to figure out my pace. Got it spot on, almost exactly 30 mins from 🏡 to Brunswick 🏞, 5 laps of the field and 🏡 again. 3.79km in the morning sun... I feel pretty good but legs hurt when I go up and down stairs lol. See you tomorrow!

#day1 #challenge24

Well... First workout completed, struggled towards the end as its been a while but managed to keep some momentum going!! Hopefully the nausea eases 😂😂

See you tomorrow for the first run!!

Preparation Time

Suitable attire purchased for sweaty endeavours. Looks good if I do say so myself, although I feel a little hypocritical for mocking wearers of matching khaki green tracksuit based outfits from Poundland. I now number amongst their ranks 😂😂.
