24 miles for Pancreatic Cancer - May 2020

By Rachael Watson

I am fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

I’ve been searching for an incentive to keep ploughing ahead with my walks during lockdown (I don’t usually walk ANYWHERE! 🚘 👀). Last night I was looking at signing up to the various ‘virtual run/walks’ where you record your distances and get a medal for achieving your set mileage. This morning my Facebook feed was full of virtual run companies with medals, certificates and t-shirts on offer, and then I was met with ‘Challenge 24’ for Pancreatic Cancer UK. The last time I did any kind of fundraising I was walking around my village, knocking door to door with a piece of paper from school! So yes, about 30yrs ago 🙈!

After losing my wonderful father in law to this awful illness, which comes with devastatingly quick realities, I’ve opted to swap that medal for a cheque to Pancreatic Cancer UK. I know times are really tough for most right now so I’ve set my target low at just £100 in the hope people can spare just £1 to support me fulfil this challenge.

With the world so focused on COVID-19 we are quick to forget that all other illnesses still exist. Many will still be diagnosed with cancer today and heartbreakingly, many will hold a loved ones hand and lose them to it. Please help me, help them ♥️

My chosen 24 challenge is to walk 24 miles this month by May 31st 🚶🏼‍♀️ and I know for a fact if I walked in and told Brian this he’d roll his eyes, shake his head and probably think “well she ain’t going to do that” 😂 So this ones for you!

It’s so easy to donate and you can do so right here.

Pancreatic cancer is tough – tough to diagnose, tough to treat and tough to research. And, in the uncertain times we’re currently experiencing, things have become even tougher for people with pancreatic cancer.

I’m taking on Challenge 24 at home to raise money for this vital cause because 24 people are still dying every day from pancreatic cancer. I vow to walk 24 miles in the month of May 2020.

Please support me and my fundraising. Together we can make a difference and fund life-saving research.

My donations could fund...

18 hours with a nurse on our Support Line

or

8 hours of early diagnosis research
