My dad (Jon), known to some as Booter, passed away recently from pancreatic cancer, only aged 62 years old. Dad had never been ill before so this came as a massive shock. Months of going back and forth to A&E and the GP and unfortunately it took 5 months before they diagnosed the cancer. He couldn't have the operation and instead had chemo and radiotherapy (MRIdian)-- a new cutting edge radiotherapy that we were told had a 80% chance of shrinking and killing the tumor. Unfortunately, it grew larger and blocked his stomach and he struggled to eat or drink anything and slowly passed away, losing a substantial amount of weight. It was devastating to watch dad slowly passed away, as he was so strong and determined to live and willing to do whatever it took. Dad was a massive softy, so kind and loving and so thoughtful to everyone he knew. He was known for his kindness at work and his department was the only one to have near full feedback on surveys, all stating what a wonderful and kind boss he was. Dad had such an amazing sense of humour and always made people laugh or smile. He was so intelligent and it was inspiring watching him work out the most complex mathematics in seconds. He was naturally sporty, and had a love of many sports, especially rugby and had many lifelong friends. I love you dad, I couldn't have asked for a better dad
