Running for a Cause
Running has changed and enhanced my life for the better. In the Fall 2018, I decided to challenge myself with a marathon. I showed up to a running group in my area and after a few runs was introduced to a girl named Kelly. We immediately hit it off and became close friends. My 'one and done' marathon morphed into 'let's keep doing this!!"
Both moms of three kids, the topics we covered on the trails went from lighthearted to deep over the miles and years. In 2019 I had filed divorce from my husband of 15 years and Kelly’s dad was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. We supported each other and cried on the trails during that year understanding the emotional toll both experiences were having on each other. In 2020 my divorce was final and Kelly’s dad lost his battle to Pancreatic Cancer. The heartbreak of each loss, different but parallel, made our friendship stronger. Kelly showed up for me in ways I didn't even know I needed. And I was there to support her too. Kelly’s dad was so supportive and wonderful in her life- and hearing about his final months was brutal.
As we have done throughout the years I want to help support Kelly and her family and fundraise for the Pancreatic Cancer to help find a cure and aid in research to help end this disease and support other families affected by pancreatic cancer.
Pancreatic cancer is tough to diagnose, tough to treat and tough to research. Please support me and help make a difference to pancreatic cancer.
Together we can transform the future.
