What would you do, if it were you?

When my mum got diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2021 at only 64 years old - the doctors told us that her tumour must be around 7-10 years old, which means only a 5% survival rate at this stage. This is what makes this disease so malicious. The lack of early detection is what makes this cancer type one of the hardest to treat and cure from. It's a truly nasty disease that takes over your body and your spirit (no matter how much of a fighter you are, it changes you).

The 2 pictures of my mum here and on my profile have been taken only 7 months apart. Sadly most patients don't make it even that far.

Current financial pressures mean large cancer research organisations are cutting their funding for ground-breaking research. 

With your support, you could help fund research to find new ways to detect, treat and care for people like my mum. I and my family hoped for more effective treatments that would stop her pancreatic cancer in its tracks - that would give her the chance to fight this cruel illness.

Pancreatic cancer is tough to diagnose, tough to treat and tough to research. Please support me and help make a difference for all those affected.

My heart is breaking knowing if her cancer had been caught early enough, there would have been hope for my mum. I don't want other families to go through the same suffering as we did. Let's do whatever we can to push the research for early detection and better treatment forward! 

November 1st is the start of the Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month and it will also be the start of my challenge - running/walking 5km each day for 24 days.
