I'm fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

This is a cause which is unfortunately too close to my heart. One of my beloved aunties subcombed to this cancer in 2018. 
She had felt unwell for so long but her diagnosis came way too late, as this cancer is so difficult to detect. Despite her courage in wanting to fight it, she died only a few months after being diagnosed. I have never seen anyone go so quickly. 
I am a regular donater to Pancreatic Cancer UK so when I saw November is awareness month, I knew this was the perfect opportunity to do something I love (baking AND eating cakes!) and raising a decent amount of money for the charity. 
I hope you will join us on 5th November for cake and donating to this very worthwhile cause.  Let's get this cancer the recognition it needs for more research for earlier and improved detection and continue to  support those affected by this horrible disease.

Cake sale done!

Wow! It’s been a busy few days, baking cakes for today.
I love baking though so it’s no stress for me.
The kids love helping too with decorating and my husband is just amazingly supportive with  everything else that needs to happen with these fundraising events.

It was amazing to have so many family and friend support with this cake sale. Everyone was incredibly generous with their time and money for a cause that is so important to me.

If my auntie was still here, she would have driven the 30 miles over to us to support anything I was doing. She was great like that.  Today was for her.

I hope that at some point soon I stop hearing and reading about such heartbreaking experiences of this cancer which is so hard to detect and so hard to treat and which has such low survival rates. Hopefully the awareness and funds raised this month will go some way towards that. 🙏

The kids have been so helpful clearing up, decorating cakes and making menus.

The next couple of weeks will see me trawl through my cook books and make a plan of when and what I need to bake!

I tried a Cardamom traybake (Nadyia Hussain receipe) which seemed to go down well for my mums birthday. THAT will definitely be on the menu!
