I am taking on Challenge24 this November for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month 💜
Pancreatic cancer is the deadliest common cancer, with 24 people dying from this disease every day in the UK. Survival rates for most cancers have improved massively, but this is not the case for pancreatic cancer, more than 50% of people diagnosed die within 3 months. Diagnosis often comes too late as there often aren’t symptoms in early stages, and misdiagnosis is as high as 31%.
Earlier this year my mom, Sharlene, was diagnosed with early stages of pancreatic cancer following her symptom of jaundice. Despite that, it still took time for diagnosis as she suffered no other symptoms. She is currently undertaking treatment at The University of Birmingham Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and I am so proud of how strong she is being through all that is being thrown her way.
In support of her, other patients and families of those who have, or are being affected by this awful disease I am fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK by walking 24 miles this November and I would appreciate your support. Your donations will support vital, world-leading research, ensure specialist nurses are there to take more calls and fuel campaigns to drive positive change.
