I'm fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK
Arthur wanted to take on a tough walking challenge to raise money to help more people survive pancreatic cancer, in memory of his Dad, Mike. So after a training walk in the Peak District (pictured) we’ve landed on a good stomp along the Jurassic Coast. Originally 4 grown-ups, 5 kids, 26.2 miles (a marathon!) - “the Jurassic 5” - I’m pleased to say our number has grown and we’re now more of a Jurassic mob!!! Walking with Arthur will be his mum, Katie, Fletch, Charlie, Helen, Oscar, Ollie, Lottie, Harry, Andy, Spoon, Matilda, Matilda and Rufus, with guest appearances by James, Caz, Layla, Lou, Roger and Lilah!
Arthur has set us a target to raise £5000! Better get cracking!
Please give generously because us grown-ups are going to need all the motivation we can get to put up with two whole days of “are we there yet?” and “I’ve hurt my foot.”
The money we raise will fund research towards breakthroughs that will transform the future for pancreatic cancer, so that more people have a chance against this horrible disease.
With pancreatic cancer, silence is deadly. It’s a disease that gets too little attention and funding and far too many people are dying. Half of people diagnosed die within 3 months. For Mike it was just one week. 80% get the news that nothing at all can be done for them. Yet only 2% of the current UK cancer research funding is spent on it. We can help change this. We did it!!!
We really did! Can’t believe it. Everyone was totally heroic, especially all the kids. Chesil beach nearly broke many of us, but we powered on all the way to Abbotsbury from Seatown. The end was emotional to say the least. We raised a drink to Mike and celebrated raising over £7,000, with donations still rolling in. Thanks to everyone who has donated. You are all brilliant.
