I'm fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month

4/11/24 marks 10 years since my mum, Eileen Somerton, passed away from pancreatic cancer.

She had battled the cancer in 2008 and won but sadly when the cancer came back 6 years later she was no longer able to fight the disease.

This November I am challenging myself to run, walk or cycle 30 miles in order to raise funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK during Pancreatic Cancer Awareness month. I am doing this to not only raise money for a charity that continues to fight this deadly disease but also in memory of my mum who was the bravest person I knew and who would have been the first to step up and take on the challenge.

Pancreatic cancer is the most deadly common cancer, with more than half of the people diagnosed only surviving for an average of 3 months after diagnosis. Despite the deadliness of this cancer there is still so much that is not known about the disease and even more to be learnt about how we can help people survive it. Money raised will go towards research and providing support to people who are not only diagnosed and living with the cancer but also to those whose lives have been changed completely by the loss of someone from the disease.

If you would like to donate to this charity and sponsor me in my challenge I would be very grateful. No amount is too small. I'll try and provide updates on my progress throughout the month.

Thank you all for any donations, words of support or memories and thoughts of Mum throughout the challenge.
