As some of you know I lost two very dear friends to Pancreatic Cancer recently - Sharon Hartley in November and Georgina Gale in April - both of whom were so very brave and fought this disease for many months until it took them from us far too soon.
I met Sharon when I started my first job in London in 1987 at the age of 16 and although she was a little bit older than me, she took me under her wing and looked after me and I was lucky to have called her my friend for over 30 years.
I met George when we started working together in 1992 and being a little bit older than her, like Sharon did for me, I took her under my wing and looked after her. We soon became best friends and were looking after each other for nearly 30 years - she was Godmother to Jamie and even walked me down the aisle to give me away when I got married last year.
Now I'm not the fittest bunny on the block, however in their honour, I have decided to set myself a challenge to see if I can raise a little something for Pancreatic Cancer UK. So, every day between Friday 19 June which is George's birthday and Monday 10 August which is Sharon's birthday, I shall be taking a daily walk of 5,000 steps a day which will total more than 1/4 million steps when I'm done.
I have set up this page if anyone would like to donate...even if I receive just one donation it means I've got to crack on every day for the whole 52 days!
