Hello Everyone!
On 17th May, I’ll be running the Sunderland Half Marathon to raise money for a pancreatic cancer charity. This cause was chosen together with my beautiful Auntie Linda, and it means a great deal to me personally.Pancreatic cancer is still underfunded compared to many other charities, yet it affects so many families. I won’t go into detail about my Auntie Linda’s story, but I can say we’ve seen first-hand how quickly and cruelly this disease can take the people we love. My lovely Nanna Jean and Auntie Heather were also taken from us by this illness, which makes this challenge even more meaningful.
I chose to take on the Sunderland Half not only to support this cause, but also to give myself a reason to keep running during what is a difficult time. Running has always been a huge support for my mental health, and this feels like a positive way to channel that.

Some facts;
*Pancreatic cancer receives around only 1% of National Cancer Research Institute partners’ research spend.
*Late diagnosis is a major problem. Around 80% of pancreatic cancer patients are diagnosed at a point when the disease is metastatic – i.e. spread to other organs and when surgery is not an option. For this cohort of metastatic patients, the average survival is just 2-6 months.
*Pancreatic Cancer Charity goes above and beyond for everyone affected by this disease. Right now, half of people with pancreatic cancer die within three months of diagnosis. Families are left with only hope to hold onto. They need more. So, we do more.
We bring more breakthroughs through research, more change through campaigning, and more support through our expert nurses. We make more noise because people have gone unheard. We are relentless because the disease is ruthless. Every penny raised goes to such an important cause.
