300 miles in 30 days

By James Currie

I am fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Pancreatic cancer is tough to diagnose, tough to treat and tough to research. Please support me and help make a difference to pancreatic cancer.

In 2019 Dalkeith Thistle Community Football Club were hit with the news that our clubs Football Development Officer’s father John had been diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer John sadly passed away in September 2019.

Just a few weeks later our club chairman Stevie Dixon received the devastating news that he also had Pancreatic Cancer and after a short battle sadly passed in December 2019.

Since then as a club we have taken the Pancreatic Cancer UK charity to our hearts and it has become our nominated charity resulting in various fundraising activities.

The challenge I have set myself is to cycle 300 miles during the 30 days of September.

If anyone would like to donate to this great charity please do so via my just giving page.

Thank you 🚴🏻💨💨💨

My donations could fund...

36 hours with a nurse on our Support Line

or

16 hours of early diagnosis research

My Updates

Cycles 8,9 & 10

Last 3 cycles have seen me reach the total of 158 miles and past the half way point in my challenge.

Still a lot of work to do but still well on course to get this challenge completed within the 30 days

Cycles 5,6 &7

So I’ve managed 24.84 miles cycle to and from work on Wednesday and Thursday morning meaning I’m now 109 miles into my challenge. 20 days left to get 191 miles done 🚴🏻💨💨😂

Cycle 4

Took the easy route hone from work 3 miles gets me my 10miles for the day roll on tomorrow

Cycle 3

Threw in a small 7.5 mile cycle on way to work this morning not the longest of efforts but every mile counts in this challenge

Cycle 2 done

Managed to get out this morning and another 28miles in the bag. Lovely sunny morning down the east coast of Scotland skthough the wind in the face from Longniddry to musselburgh was tough
Only 225 miles to go 🚴🏻💨💨💨

First cycle done

So started the 300 miles in 30 days challenge today 44.71miles in the bank legs are in bits but it will all be worth it. Started from my home in Newtongrange down in to East Lothian to Longniddry then back up the easy coast through Cockenzie, Port Seton, Preston Pans, Musselburgh into Edinburgh stopping at Easter Road Stadium for a quick Pic and then across the city to Tynecastle Stadium. then heading back into city centre passing through the Grass Market, down the Royal Mile, passing the parliament down through Holyrood park to portobello, Musselburgh, whitecraig and then finishing at Cowden Park home of Dalkeith Thistle CFC.
