This September, I'm walking 84km for the 84 people who die from pancreatic cancer every 3 days in the UK.

Pancreatic cancer is the deadliest common cancer in the UK.

Right now, 31 people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every day in the UK.

So this September, I'm challenging myself to get up, get moving and walk 84km remember those we've lost, and stand with those affected by pancreatic cancer.

Out over the Marsh

Today’s walk (6.8km) would appear to be about my limit ATM. Arrived home in a bit of pain around the centre, well when I say ‘bit’ I mean quite a lot! Enough to make me seek a laying flat position. I will head to the paracetamol and hot water bottle shortly.

I was with a friend, Kim, and her adorable black Cocker Spaniel, Betsy. Was great to have the company.

We wandered away from my house and out over the ‘Marshes’ which in this neck of the woods is actually reclaimed farmland. It was a beautiful day for walking, if a little blustery on such an exposed section of land. But nonetheless enjoyable for that, in fact it probably kept us from overheating!

We managed to miss a turning - what was that about geography teacher? (Never did have a sense of direction) - and ended up walking field boundaries rather than farm tracks which made the going somewhat heavier than anticipated. I’m sure it all adds to the strength building!!!

Betsy was, for the most part, well behaved. She got a little rebellious about sitting at the side of the road to allow cars to pass, or to cross the road, towards the end of the walk, and I don’t blame her for that, I think we all just wanted to get back home by then.

Hot and thirsty on our return, but well worth it. I think I will sleep well tonight

Upping the target.

I have just increased my fund raising target to £564. I know it’s an odd number, but it’s the next target on the Pancreatic Cancer funding page, and so…

Together we have smashed the first three, (and certainly my original target of £100 has been blown out the water). I am so grateful for all of your support. Onwards and upwards. Lots of love 🥰

Slow Progress

I’m ever so slightly up on the 3km per day target, but nowhere near what I had hoped for. Feeling I’m making a pathetic effort so far. Today I was feeling v poorly in the afternoon so only 1.6km (a mile) covered today. Hopefully better in the morning. Weather not looking great, but may attempt to get the gym and use the treadmill. Watch this space x
