Run 4 in September

By Hayley Bright

I am fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

All cancers are devastating, but not many are as devastating as Pancreatic Cancer.  Pancreatic cancer is tough to diagnose, tough to treat and tough to research. Please support me and help make a difference to pancreatic cancer.

During the month of September I am challenging myself to run the distance of 4 marathons, that’s 104.8 miles or 168kms. You can follow my runs on Strava or I will be putting regular updates on my Facebook page. Some pancreatic cancer sufferers don’t have much longer from diagnosis to losing their battle.

My challenge is in memory of two lovely ladies, my friend Sam's mum, Meryl, and a very close friend of my friend Giovanna, Sioned, both taken by this cruel cancer.

If you are able to donate, however small, I would be so grateful.

Lets give sufferers a fighting chance to beat this cancer.  Thank you

My donations could fund...

64 hours with a nurse on our Support Line

or

28 hours of early diagnosis research

CHALLENGE COMPLETE!!

DAY 30 - 4.8km and it’s done!!! Can’t believe I’ve run the distance from Knighton to Pembroke Docks. When I set the challenge I didn’t know if it was achievable but I suppose that’s why it’s called a challenge. Thank you to Angie, Zoe and Debbie for making the last run so special. I have run:
1 x 4km, 11 x 5km, 2 x 6km, 2 x 7km, 5 x 8km,
1 x 9km, 1 x 10km and 2 x 11km - thank you so much to everyone who has donated on my page, helping to raise over £1300 for Pancreatic Cancer UK.    Now my legs need a rest before getting back to running next week. 💜💜 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️

100km and counting

Yesterday’s run was a great milestone to hit. Never before, and probably never again, will I reach 100km in one month let alone 18 days. When I thought of this challenge I didn’t really know if it was achievable. I have never run 2 days in a row so to run 6 days in a row has been a challenge in itself. Trying to find time to fit the runs in when working has been another challenge. But it just proves, anything is possible when you are determined and put your mind to it. This is a dreadful disease that puts my aching calf muscles into complete insignificance. Just £9 off my target. Hopefully hit it soon.

So far …..

3 days in and 18km completed. A normal week I might run 18-21. Tomorrow I have my 10k to run taking my total to way over what I usually do in a week. It was lovely having my running buddy, Angie, to run with last night.

Hot Hot Hot

I have taken a little break this week from running. It’s been so hot. I’m not sure how people get up at 5am to go for a run. I really wish I was one of those this week and get out before melting. Will be back out in the morning .... getting wet!! 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️

Training in progress

I have always loved running but I wouldn't say I'm a natural runner. I have run loads of 5k's and completed a couple of 10'ks, which was as far as my ambition went.  Until my friend suggested a half marathon. This was booked for October to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer, but has been postponed until October 2022, so I needed a new challenge. My 4 in September is to run a total distance of 4 marathons during the month of September, approximately 26.2 miles or 42km's a week - 104 miles in total!! I normally run 16-20km's a week hence why this is a challenge.
