Support my challenge to fight for a world without pancreatic cancer

During COVID my Mum used to come to mine after work and we'd go for a walk around where I lived. I never thought I'd need to cherish those walks, but now more than ever I wish I could go back and do just one more.

I'm setting myself this challenge to get me moving more and to remind me of those walks we did back in 2020.

A reminder that this awful disease takes people so quickly. It often doesn't even give families enough time to process the diagnosis, let alone the loss that so often follows.

This September, I'm walking 84km for the 84 people who die from pancreatic cancer every 3 days in the UK.
Pancreatic cancer is the deadliest common cancer in the UK.

 Right now, 31 people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every day in the UK.

So this September, I'm challenging myself to get up, get moving and walk 84km remember those we've lost, and stand with those affected by pancreatic cancer.

I was going to make some sort of excuse or lie about why I haven't walked in a week but I won't. I've had 0 motivation to walk this past week. After the initial buzz of starting the fundraiser wore off, I couldn't find the drive to get out. Today I broke that. The walk was hard but I kept going. I didn't keep going because I wanted to or to get the kms in. I kept going because I was thinking about the fight Mum went through and no walking pain, sweat or boredom will ever even come close. 15kms down 69 to go...

I am absolutely blown away by the kindness and generosity of those who've already donated. It means so much to me that you are willing to part with hard earned money to help this amazing charity. I cannot thank you enough for your support 🥰

I've upped my goal from £500 to £1000 and for every £10 I get over £840, I'll add 1km to the 84km I've pledged to walk already!

Only 2 days until we get going and I'll have a special guest joining me on my first few walks 🤫

84km in a month sounds easy but thats 30+ mins of walking a day... which also sounds easy 😂 ... however I'm starting from 0 walks per day so hoping this helps get me out in the fresh air. Really in need of any mental health benefits I can get!

Also good excuse to dust off the indoor walking pad for those rainy days that seem to be incoming...
