I am fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.
November is pancreatic cancer awareness month and I've been inspired by my friend Vanessa Walker and her family, who are taking on Challenge 24 in honour of beloved husband, father and grandfather, Ray Walker, and I'm taking on the challenge myself. This November would have seen the third #DayForRay, a day of fundraising activity organised by the family to raise money for research into pancreatic cancer. Due to Covid-19 the fundraising has gone virtual. I was going to set myself a fitness challenge this month and Vanessa's challenge has given me the motivation I needed.
I have experienced loss due to cancer very recently; my godfather John Perry received a diagnosis at the beginning of September and died on 12 October. He will be missed by many in the legal, charity and music worlds whose lives he touched.
So in memory of Ray and John, I'm running on 24 days in November, to raise awareness of this terrible cancer. I run regularly but running several days a week will be challenging.
You are also invited to take on Challenge 24. Throughout November I challenge you to do something in increments of 24. If you're active (or have aspirations to be) it might be to run every day for 24 days... if you are not active (and have no desire to be) it might be to drink 24 pints, or eat 24 biscuits! Or perhaps you would be able to give up something that you enjoy for 24 days. It can be anything but above all make it fun, mentally cleansing or challenging! I'm a bit late posting this so there are now fewer than 24 days left in November but if you start today I'm sure it won't matter.
Pancreatic cancer is tough to diagnose, tough to treat and tough to research. Please support me, if you can spare the price of a coffee, and help make a difference to pancreatic cancer.
My donations could fund...
15 hours with a nurse on our Support Line
or
6 hours of early diagnosis research

Challenge complete!
24 runs in November - done! Well, one was a walk but it was nearly 17 miles and it was epic so it definitely counts.
Run 21 - three more to go
The temperature has dropped and running after work is definitely feeling colder. It's more of an effort to get out my trainers on. It's all worth it though, especially when people say that they didn't know much about pancreatic cancer before I promoted my challenge, so I've achieved my aim to raise awareness and I'm HUGELY grateful to everyone who has made a donation - thank you all! Over half way!

Seven days done!
I started on 2 November and took a day off on 6 November and another one today, so I've completed seven days so far. Distance has varied from 2km to 6 km. I have some days in hand which is good as it's hard work to get out every day. I really admire anyone who does a 'run every day' challenge; this is going to be a 'run nearly every day' challenge! I did an online kettlercise class today instead of a run - last Tuesday I did both and regretted it. God luck to anyone taking on any kind of challenge this month, just remember it's all for a great cause :) ShareThank you to my Sponsors
