Why I'm raising money for Pancreatic Cancer UK
I'm running the Swansea Half Marathon on Sunday 11th June to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK. Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate of all common cancers, with five-year survival less than 7%. 80% of people are diagnosed at stage 3 or stage 4, with 1 in 2 people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer via an emergency, such as A&E. Surgery is currently the only curative treatment for pancreatic survival, however only 1 in 10 people with pancreatic cancer will receive potentially curative surgery. I'm raising money to help improve treatment options, research and support for people with Pancreatic cancer. My dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2017, he's been living with the illness for 5 years and has always been positive and made the most of each day, I'm also running for him.
