Support my challenge to fight for a world without pancreatic cancer

This September, I'm walking 84km for my husband, Chris, and the 84 people who die from pancreatic cancer every 3 days in the UK.

Pancreatic cancer is the deadliest common cancer in the UK. It is often non-symptomatic and hence diagnosed too late for treatment to be an option, as was the case for Chris.

Chris was full of life and energy, always active and working on plans and ideas, a creative and vibrant presence. After just a few weeks of feeling unwell, he was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer at the end of September 2025. He died two months later. Chris showed extraordinary courage facing this devastating diagnosis, but he didn’t stand a chance, and we knew it almost immediately.

The statistics for pancreatic cancer survival have not changed much for decades. Much more needs to be done to improve the survival rates for so many people affected. We need to support targeted investment similar to that which has transformed the outcomes for breast and prostate cancer.

Right now, 31 people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every day in the UK.

So this September, I'm challenging myself to get up, get moving and walk 84km to remember those we've lost, and stand with those affected by pancreatic cancer.
