I am fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.
Pancreatic cancer is tough – tough to diagnose, tough to treat and tough to research. And, in the uncertain times we’re currently experiencing, things have become even tougher for people with pancreatic cancer. Having lost my wife to pancreatic cancer earlier this year, I always intended to do charitable things to help those with pancreatic cancer.
I’m taking on Challenge 24 at home to raise money for this vital cause because 24 people are still dying every day from pancreatic cancer. The challenge will be to complete 12 5k runs and 12 7k walks during the next 24 days.
Please support me and my fundraising. Together we can make a difference and fund life-saving research.
Thank you.
My donations could fund...
39 hours with a nurse on our Support Line
or
17 hours of early diagnosis research

Day 24, walk
Well, the last day. An 11k walk primarily along canals and river. I will post an update later on this evening. Share
Day 23
Final run of the challenge, determined to do a good one even though it was 24 degrees. Furthest I've run 10.8k . Really chuffed with that. Share
Day 22 walk
Started today thinking, take it easy a hot one tomorrow for a run!....12k later got home. Brilliant to see so many houses with VE day banners and parties covering 4 or 5 houses all the ones I saw were obeying social distancing rules which is great to see some common sense. Share
Day 21
Run today. Would you believe it, twisted my ankle putting washing on the line yesterday. Wasnt sure what it would be like. The real problem was the heat. Very humid so only completed 7 k Share
Day 20
10k walk today. Nothing too exciting but the weather was perfect for walking this evening. Share
Day 19 Run
Well finally managed to do a 10k. Didn't expect to when I started out 19 days ago. Share
Day 18 walk
Quite a leisurely stroll today just over 5 miles. Share
Day 17
Another run. Decided to see how far I could go this time. 9.49 k, quite cuffed really. Two fit bit maps showing the run and walk back. One day I might just be able to get home running ! Share
Day 16
After yesterday's effort, took it easy today. More of a stroll than a brisk walk. Share
Day 15
Hi. Today I challenged myself on a different route I hadn't done before. I was really pleased to run 8.34k then ran out of steam. Trouble was I was still 5k from home so walked the rest! Hope my legs can take it. Share
Day 14
Walk today. Less scenery for photos so not many to show. Share
Day 13
Decided to run a flat route today, along canal and river, decided to keep going after 5k. Managed to do 7.5k. Aching a bit now. Share
Day 12
Woah, we half way there,
Day 11
Cooler today, also decided to take a flatter route. Actually ran 6k before being confronted with steep hills to get back home. Share
Day 10.
Another lovely day. Decided to go on a route I haven't done before. The Altyryn nature trail. Very up and down with several inter-winding footpaths. Lovely walking through the trees and even found a small natural pond. Share
Day 9
Well here we are, another Saturday, not sure it feels like one. Just a run today. Found it difficult today, probably walked too far yesterday. Share
Day 8
Well its day 8, a third of the way through the challenge. No injuries...yet (touch wood). Today I did what I shall call the bridges walk. Along the river usk past all the bridges that cross it in Newport. Some photos to follow ranging from the Transporter bridge to the built in 1906 to the new foot bridge built in 2006. Walk took a bit longer than I thought it would so I apologise for using more than 1 hour exercise time. Share
Day 7
Hi there. Run today, too hot really, left it till about 6 but still too hot. No photos today. Share
Day 6
Today's walk centred around the "Gollars", originally an iron age hill fort. It boasts some of the best views in Newport in all directions. It is also thought that the hill protected the Gaer houses during the second world war when German aircraft raided Newport from the west. The gollars has special memories for me as it was where I spent many houes walking with my wife and our dog. Share
Day 5
Technology let's you down. Fitbit watch stopped on me after 3.1k, so no data. Anyway route same as day 3. Not a teribly exciting update but at least it was completed Share
Day 4
A walk day today. Followed a road route through the Ridgeway (posh area of Newport). Share
Day 3
Hi. Made a mistake of doing too much gardening today. Run was hard work but completed it.. Just! No photos today, will keep them for walking days, it's easier.
Day 2
Walk today. Used canal route approx 8k so went over my hour. Some photos on the way. Those photographers amongst you, a bit limited with the camera phone. Share
Day by day update
