PCAM Challenge 24

Please help me honour my dad 💜 let's raise some money for Pancreatic Cancer research

Today would have been my dad’s 71st birthday. Sadly, he passed away 11 weeks ago from Pancreatic cancer.

He fought so bravely for over a year. His official diagnosis was in July 2023 but he had symptoms for at least 6 months prior.

My dad loved life at its core- he never wanted to sit at home and do nothing. He loved live music, meeting up with his friends at his local cafe, travelling to anywhere warm and sunny. He loved life so much, he would make his plans work no matter what. An example for this is his visit to see me in England. The day of his chemotherapy session, he boarded a plane and flew nearly 3 hours to Manchester. He wanted to see where his daughter lived, and make sure I knew he cared and loved me very much.

Pancreatic cancer is the deadliest common cancer. More than half of people die within three months of diagnosis.

Survival rates for other cancers have improved dramatically in recent years. But decades of underfunding mean we still don’t have the tests and treatments to tackle this disease. People with pancreatic cancer have been overlooked and ignored for far too long.

That’s why I’m fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK and I'd really appreciate your support. Your donations will support vital, world-leading research, ensure specialist nurses are there to take more calls and fuel campaigns to drive positive change.

Together, we will bring more than hope to people affected by pancreatic cancer.

Please help me honour my dad with raising essential funds for research.

My donations could fund...

11

hours with a nurse on our support line

5

hours of early diagnosis research

50% REACHED 💜💜💜

🎉 50% of Our Fundraising Goal Reached! 🎉 A huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far! 💜 Your support means the world and brings us closer to making a difference for those affected by pancreatic cancer. Together, we’re raising awareness and hope. If you haven’t donated yet, there’s still time to help us reach my goal. Thank you all for your kindness and generosity. 💜

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far 💜

Your donations mean the world to me. I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your generous donations and heartfelt support for my pancreatic cancer fundraiser in memory of my dad. Losing him to this disease was one of the most painful experiences of my life, and through this fundraiser, we are turning our grief into something meaningful and hopeful.

Pancreatic cancer is the 5th biggest cancer killer in the UK with 9,000 deaths every year.

Funding for research is crucial if we are to change these outcomes. Pancreatic cancer receives a fraction of the research funding that other cancers do, despite its high mortality rate. With more investment, scientists can work toward earlier detection methods, more effective treatments, and, hopefully, a cure.

Your donations are helping to drive forward this essential work, creating a future where families don’t have to endure the same loss that we did. Every pound raised is a step closer to finding answers, improving outcomes, and, ultimately, saving lives. Thank you. Vanessa
