Susie and Jo's 24 mile Challenge

By Jo Catling

I am fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Some of you will know that my Dad died from pancreatic cancer in 2015.  Pancreatic cancer is really tough – tough to diagnose, tough to treat and tough to research.    Susie and I are planning to walk 24 miles in 48 hours, taking on Challenge 24 to raise money for this vital cause because in 2020, 24 people are still dying every day from pancreatic cancer.

Our walk will take place on Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd July 2020.  Our first leg will take us from Birmingham City Centre to the Worcestershire village of Alvechurch along a section of the Birmingham and Worcester Canal.  This is a local walk for us, taking us through Bournville where we live.  Our second walk will continue the watery theme, along part of the Thames Path between Bourne End and Henley on Thames.  Dad flew for British Airways, and this walk will take us a good way along the Heathrow flight path, and is local to where I grew up and where Dad lived throughout his married life.

Thank you for sponsoring us to support those who are currently battling this dreadful disease, and to hopefully change the prognosis for those diagnosed in the future.  In the uncertain times we’re currently experiencing, things have become even tougher for people with pancreatic cancer.  Together we can make a difference and fund life-saving research.

My donations could fund...

31 hours with a nurse on our Support Line

or

14 hours of early diagnosis research
