Walking in our Fathers footsteps
In memory of our beloved Dad, we wanted to take on a challenge that would be both a tribute to him and raise funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK.
So, the 3 of us have decided to take on a 7-day walk stretching over 140 miles. The walk will start at Dad’s graveside in Fogo and will take us on a journey through the Borders and the Lothian’s before finishing in the East Neuk of Fife on what would have been Dad’s 58th Birthday.
On our journey we will be stopping at 12 different places that were important in Dad’s life and will forever remind us of him.
All money donated will be going to Pancreatic Cancer UK to support their research as they work to try and improve the shockingly low survival rate for this type of cancer.
If the money we can raise in doing this walk will make even the smallest positive difference for families like ours who will have a loved one diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, then every step will have been worth it.

For those who wish to know more about the walk, here are the stops we have chosen and a little bit of info about them.
25/05/25 - Day 1
Start - Fogo Cemetery - Dads graveside
Stop 1 - Our family home for the last 20 years
Stop 2 - Ednam village hall - Dad was one of the main organisers of an annual Christian event here which was also his last public appearance
Stop 3 - The Roxburghe house hotel - Dad was a member at the golf club here and we enjoyed many family games together. Also the venue for the refreshments after Dad’s thanksgiving service
26/05/25 - Day 2
Stop 4 - Old gala house - Where Dad went to church since moving to the borders

Stop 5 - Florabank care home - Dad used to be a director here and a frequent speaker at the weekly services
Stop 6 - Craigielaw Golf Club - Dad was a member for many years and got his only hole in one here
Stop 7 - Grandparents house - Dad’s home as a teenager

Stop 8 - Mum and Dad’s first house
Stop 9 - Mum and Dad’s second house - Where our family lived before moving to the Borders
Stop 10 - Elcho Place hall - the church dad was raised in, baptised and got married in
