Three 4000m Peak Challenge - Italy, France and Switzerland

I'm fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Hello,

I am heading over to the Alps this late Summer to take on three well known mountains climbs over a 7 day span - each at an altitude over 4000 metres.

Gran Paradiso - 4061m - Italy

Mont Blanc - 4805m - France

Matterhorn - 4478m - Switzerland

Every part of the expedition will rely heavily on the weather and assessment of safety as is always the case particularly in high altitude mountain terrain.  I can however pledge that my determination and ongoing commitment to training and fitness will not be the barrier to my success.

I would like to support and raise awareness for Pancreatic Cancer UK in remembrance of a dear colleague who sadly past away in 2025 after suffering this horrendous disease.  Dan was always very supportive of my outdoor adventures and always had the words to make me believe in myself.  His passing is a forever sadness and I would like to celebrate my up and coming challenge by guiding donations towards a cause I know he would very much appreciate - helping others.

Look out for me on the mountains Dan please ☁️

Stacey

We miss you terribly :(

We are Pancreatic Cancer UK.

We go above and beyond for everyone affected by this disease. Right now, half of people with pancreatic cancer die within three months of diagnosis. Families are left with only hope to hold onto. They need more. So, we do more.

We bring more breakthroughs through research, more change through campaigning, and more support through our expert nurses. We make more noise because people have gone unheard. We are relentless because the disease is ruthless. We care more because people feel forgotten.

My donations could fund...

46 hours with a nurse on our Support Line

or

20 hours of early diagnosis research

There it is folks 👆🏻

If you follow me on Instagram, you will be best up to date with my journey as real a time as I can.  However this will track my actual live time in movement when obviously I cannot be seeing to my phone.

Massive thank you’s to all recent donators.  Over 1K just wow!!

Also huge thanks to my gym Snap fitness Aberdeen and the main man who has been a valuable support and even managed to get me in front of the camera for a bit of advertisement.  The support there means a lot and the best decision I ever made to join this highly supportive gym with the best community spirit environment.  It suits me to a tee 🙏🏼

If you already follow my Instagram stories and keep up to date with mountain affairs, there has been some really sorry and heartbreaking news across the world in the altitudes.

Broad Peak suffered a fatal avalanche and took 10 lives which has been quite hard to come to terms with, like so many people around the world who followed well respected, highly experienced mountaineers.
The mountaineering community is a close one, with having to develop close trusting relationships fairly quickly.  There is a certain mindset that i think is unique to us all.

The Alps themselves at the moment are not doing so good.  The ‘glue’ that holds the rocks together up high i.e the ice/snow is melting introducing high speed velocity rockfalls.

My company are very good on updating me on this evolving situation and with 2 weeks to go, it is possible for things to change - which largely relies on a drop in temperatures (which is forecast).

This is the nature of the mountains and you must evolve and adapt with the ever changing conditions as they develop.

Safety always comes first.

🙏🏼

1 month to go!!!!

Thank you guys, the pot is getting full, just wow!!!!

Little update in that the Alps have not been a fun place to climb this season.  Extended heatwaves are unsettling the rocks and safety is becoming a primary concern, as if it wasn’t before!

Guides are not taking clients up the Hornli Hutte route (Swiss side) at the moment.  Hopefully things improve, however there is a possibility to go up from the Italian side (Lion Ridge).  This is even more technically difficult and challenging (of course it is!).

What will be will be and I will put my mind to whatever is presented as the safest route or mountain alternative.

There have been a few fatalities over the past couple of weeks which is unsettling but reinforces that the mountains and terrain are serious.

Training is going well, I am the strongest on the top I have ever been with much thanks to my PT who has taken his own time to push me to my limits.

I kept a steady comfortable pace at the Aberdeen half marathon a few days ago after a Munro summit the day before.  My aim was to keep it manageable with no stopping.  Now just to maintain fitness, add some weight to stair mastering…..start tapering down the week before.

Cannot believe I am at the month countdown, how did that happen?!?!!

Soggy Saturday 2 X Munro Summit Sort of Day

📍 Tolmount 📍 Tom Buidhe - Boggy soggy day but we managed to shave a good 2 hours off the lowest average climb time 💪 Great day of graft with Lee 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 More to come……..

Early June Update

Hello,

Another round of thanks to my most recent additions.

It is really wonderful watching the hours of lab research or nurse support increase as they are.

We at the lab recently honoured Dan's birthday with a walk to the local beach and a further hike up Scolty Hill, a local favourite spot of Dan's.

80 days now until I set off to Geneva and happy to report that training is going well and feeling stronger as the weeks tick by.

I really have landed on my feet and feel extremely lucky with huge support from my gym and the time that is being taken to coach me with targeted strength training.

Further updates to come (got a big mountain day this Saturday with a superstar fellow high(er) high altitude climbing friend ;-)).
