Welcome!
Thanks for visiting my page helping to raise awareness of Pancreatic Cancer this November.
I plan to challenge myself with a month of running between 17th of Nov (Pan Can Awareness Day) and 17th Dec (my birthday). I will run 3.5k for 24 of those days.
My mum passed away from Pancreatic Cancer in 2017. She was a woman to aspire towards, always healthy, super fit and full of life.
She ran sub 4hr marathons, completed 18 Highland Crosses in a row and cycled the Alps! In comparison my challenge is minor - I will still spend every kilometer asking her to get me to the end!
So why 24 and 3.5?
Well, the 5-year survival rate for Pancreatic Cancer in Scotland ranks *35th* out of 36 countries with comparable data. Unlike the majority of cancers, five- and ten-year survivial for pancreatic cancer has not shown much improvement since the early 1970s.
And 24 people die every day from Pancreatic Cancer in the UK.
The biggest way you can increase your chances of survival is to recognise symptoms early - look at my photos to learn what symptoms to look out for.
My donations could fund...
21 hours with a nurse on our Support Line
or
9 hours of early diagnosis research
