I'm fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month
Pancreatic cancer is the deadliest common cancer. In the UK alone, 24 people lose their lives to this disease every single day. This cause is personal to me as I’m working on a project that explores the potential of macrophages as markers for earlier pancreatic cancer diagnosis. My goal is to see if we can leverage machine learning to improve detection accuracy, ultimately catching the disease in its earliest stages when treatment options are more viable. I’ve seen friends lose loved ones to pancreatic cancer, and their experiences have shown me just how devastating this illness is — how urgently we need breakthroughs. Pancreatic cancer is one of the most underfunded and understudied cancers, despite being one of the deadliest. This lack of investment in research means people continue to face a grim prognosis. To honor those lost each day I’m running 24 miles each week in November. With each mile, I’m raising funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK to support vital, world-leading research, help specialist nurses provide critical care, and power campaigns for change.
