A tribute to Michael Basman
14th June: Basman Blitz
Save the date for our upcoming annual blitz - more details to follow. This year, we remember our Honorary patron of the club, Michael Basman, who sadly passed away last year after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Having received the thumbs up from Mike's son, we will be having short blitz games over 5 rounds (details tbc) each with a nod to some of Mike's well known openings. Whilst this is free for Chessington members to participate - we ask non-members to contribute £5 and of course welcome members to make a small donation if they can :). Profits will be going towards Pancreatic Cancer UK to raise awareness and funding research.
If you have been to our events before - you'll be aware they have always been at capacity with great success -
