I am fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.
Pancreatic cancer is tough to diagnose, tough to treat and tough to research. Please support us and help make a difference to pancreatic cancer.
RSM Bristol's Corporate Finance team will be running the 10k inflatable obstacle race in June 2022. Think 10k crossed with ninja warrior! The team will be whipped in to shape to support a good cause. Not that we're competitive, but it is a race after all!
Why are we doing this fundraiser...
Lucy's mum was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in October 2020 - a big shock as she is young, fit and healthy. After getting a second opinion on her case, she received exceptional treatment from a dedicated team at London Bridge Hospital. After 3 intensive months of chemotherapy, the tumour had shrunk in size and moved away from the main portal vein which had previously been preventing the surgery. This meant Lucy's mum now qualified for the major 8 hour 'whipple' operation. It was a long road to recovery post surgery, becoming a type 1 diabetic and adjusting to a new normal. Following a further 3 months of chemo, in August 2021 Lucy's mum was given the amazing news that there was no evidence of recurrent disease.
We are sharing Sue's story to show people that there is light at the end of the tunnel. This disease can be beaten!
We hope to raise as much money as possible to support truly life saving research that gives others hope of early diagnosis and early treatment.
