I'm fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page.

On the 2nd of May 2024, I lost my dad to pancreatic cancer, he was only 63.  Sadly, this was not my first introduction to this horrible disease as back in 2005 my grampa again only 66, also succumbed to it.  Both my dad and grampa died within a few weeks of their diagnosis.

Pancreatic cancer is the deadliest common cancer.  More than half of people die within three months of diagnosis.  Survival rates for other cancers have improved dramatically in recent years.  But decades of underfunding mean we still don’t have the tests and treatments to tackle this disease.  People with pancreatic cancer have been overlooked and ignored for far too long.

24 people in the UK die everyday from pancreatic cancer so I’ve set myself a challenge to jog 24 miles in November to raise awareness of this disease and help raise funds to support vital, world-leading research, ensure specialist nurses are there to take more calls and fuel campaigns to drive positive change.

24 miles may not seem like much to some, but for a non sporty person with dodgy knees like myself it will be a massive challenge!  Any donation you can make would be greatly appreciated and thank you for your help in fighting this disease.

My donations could fund...

23

hours with a nurse on our support line

11

hours of early diagnosis research

Week 2

Managed to complete 3 runs this week (3miles each) so feeling pretty good with myself!
Had some moral support on Monday night from Zoe, who cycled along with me!
So overwhelmed with the level of support and donations already, I’ve had to increase my target from £250 to £500…can’t thank everyone enough!!!

Week 1

Completed 2 5k runs this week on the treadmill!
Counting 5k as 3miles therefore I’m 6miles down…..18 to go!
