I am fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.
This year, on 19th June 2020, it will be 10 years since my Mum died. She died of pancreatic cancer which is incredibly hard to diagnose, mainly because by the time you find out you have it, it is too late to be able to treat. My Mum knew that it could not be treated and lived for 7 months from diagnosis. She was stoic in how she approached the cancer. She refused to let it get her down. She told me she wanted to enjoy the simple things in life such as waking up to sunshine and enjoying the scent of yellow roses. I think of my Mum every day. Very often I have a cry about her as I miss her every day too. I always felt loved by my Mum. I told her everything and I miss being able to do that now. She was kind, loving and gentle. I used to love making her laugh and we enjoyed each other's company. I don't talk about her that much to others as sometimes its hard when its been nearly 10 years since she died. To be able to tell someone that I think of her every day. I know you, my friends will understand that and I hope you will support me in my challenge.
I’m taking on Challenge 24 at home to raise money for this vital cause because 24 people are still dying every day from pancreatic cancer.
I will run, cycle or walk every day for 24 days for at least a mile. This might not sound much to some but for me to do this every day, it will be a challenge for me. I often cycle or walk but then I tend to rest up for a couple of days but now I am intent to do this every day!
Please support me and my fundraising. Together we can make a difference and fund life-saving research.
My donations could fund...
14 hours with a nurse on our Support Line
or
6 hours of early diagnosis research

My Updates
Day 24
It is wonderful to reach day 24. I can’t believe I’ve done it! It’s been amazing to receive so many donations and to read such supportive comments. A walk for my last day. Feeling a bit tired from yesterday! Will continue to exercise more regularly and feeling proud that I did this for my wonderful Mum. I will be thinking of her on the 19th June xx Share
Day 23
Played another super game of tennis today. We played doubles for nearly 3 hours and it was fab. Lots of running around and then walked later in the afternoon so easily more than a mile. Share
Day 22
Ran just over 2 km. It doesn’t seem to be getting any easier! Ran along Bowcombe which is always lovely. Share
Day 21
Today I walked for over a mile with Andy and Leo. Just an after dinner walk but good to be together and enjoy the evening sunshine. Share
Day 20
Had not a great nights sleep as woke up thinking and missing my Mum. I think she is on my mind more as I go through this Challenge. Still can’t believe it’s 10 years as remember her so clearly. Today I ran for 2km and walked for 1 km after along the Quay. A reflective run. Share
Day19
Today I played tennis with my singles partner and it was exhausting but very satisfying! I ran about for 1.2 miles and finally lost 7:6 but enjoyed every moment of the game. Share
Day 18
I had a bit of a boost today as had a phone call from the charity thanking me for my efforts. Felt very motivated after and I went out with Leo and ran 3 km along the cycle path at Malborough. Leo cycled and I ran and it felt really good. Mainly as I was with Leo and he is a joy to be with. Share
Day 17
Went on a lovely walk today with Leo. Just over 1 mile. We saw a family of swans with 7 signets. The most wonderful sight along the Estuary at Bowcombe. Share
Day 16
Played tennis today and ran just over 1 mile. Played three sets but lost the doubles match. Loved every minute though! Share
Day 15
Keep waking up feeling very sleepy and hard to get going! But late afternoon I forced myself to go for a run along Bowcombe. Managed 2.8 km which is a little under 2 miles I think. Had to walk a little way as feeling out of puff! Then went to allotment to do some work and then a game of tennis so a good end to the day. Share
Day 14
Not feeling up to speed today but I persuaded myself to get going and walked 1 mile. Although it was just a walk feeling very tired but glad I did it. Share
Day 13
Finding difficult to squeeze the time sometimes as the weather is so lovely! Feeling tired today so tonight I went for a walk to the woods for just over a mile. The sunset was gorgeous and met and chatted to a couple of dog walkers which was nice. Share
Day 12
Ran for nearly 2 miles today along Bolberry which I love. It was a beautiful evening and Leo took his bike so he was whizzing along beside me. I have to say he was a lot faster than me at my more sedate pace! Half way point now for me. 12 days left! Share
Day11
Lovely warm day today so went out on the boat to the beach. Before dinner went for a run along the Quay. Felt good and I ran just under 2 miles which is my best yet. Share
Day 10
Busy day today but I did manage to cycle just over 1 mile round about where I live. I did this after dinner which wasn’t the best idea but I did it! Share
Day 9
Much more active today! Tennis with Leo and then my first swim of the year in the sea which certainly refreshed me! Home and cooked dinner then off on my bike to cycle just shy of 5 miles. Just feels like I have a duty to do my best and feels good 😊. Share
Day 8
Been a busy day so went for an evening walk on my own just up from where I live. Just a mile and felt a little sedate so will ramp it up tomorrow! Share
Day 7
Thought I’d get started this morning. Felt like a bit of an effort today but that’s what I want it to feel like as otherwise it wouldn’t be a challenge for me. Ran for a mile and then played tennis early evening with my singles partner telling me we’d run nearly 2 miles while playing so that’s good news! Share
Day 6
Found it a bit harder today as feeling tired but whilst Andy and Leo went to the beach I walked for a mile along the cliffs. Share
Day 5
Ran just over a mile today along the Quay. Felt pleased as managed to run for 6 minutes before stopping for a breather. Share
Day 4
Bit of a blip day today in that I feel tired and not really wanting to do a lot! But I want to do this so instead I cycled with Leo from South Milton to Thurlestone and we then played a lovely game of tennis on the lawn so turned out pretty well in the end. Cycled just shy of 2 miles. Share
Day 3
Got up early and out by 7.30. Today I cycled to Bowcombe. Bit breezy and grey but always beautiful. Cycled 4.8 miles so feeling pretty good. Have a good day everyone 😘 Share
Day 2
Today I ran 2km which is just over a mile. Leo wanted to run with me so it also involved a little bit of walking with a lot of “C’mon Leo!”Bless him! We ran near our allotment after watering the plants. It felt good to be out and about and I would really like to improve my distance as so grateful for your sponsorship. I feel like I am certainly doing it for Mum and all of you too! Share
First run of Day 1
Got up early this morning and ran just over 1 mile. I ran near our allotments before work and it was glorious. Great day to start as it’s my dad’s birthday today! Don’t forget to sponsor me. Maybe your act of kindness for Mental Health Week! ShareThank you to my Sponsors
