I am fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

On the 29th of April 2019, we lost an incredible man, teacher, mentor, colleague, father and husband. Mr Darren Roberts. He was an inspiration and idol to so many students at SHFGS, and was cruelly taken from our lives far too soon. He always wanted us to succeed and push ourselves in all aspects of our lives. His positivity radiated across the school, helping us to always make the best decisions, and we will continue to work hard to make him proud in all we do. Mr Roberts will be so dearly missed, but will always remain as a hero in our hearts for the rest of our lives.

Seeing the beautiful tribute written by @oli.hassall, as well as the immense support from all of the students and parents, truly showed how much he was adored by everyone. The mass support and love amazed me so much that I have decided to do something myself in honour of Mr Roberts.

In March 2020, I will participate in the London Landmarks Half Marathon for Pancreatic Cancer UK. I will be running 13 miles / 20km across London - this will definitely be a challenge and will take lots of work but I know Mr Roberts would want me to challenge myself and push myself to achieve something amazing.

Pancreatic Cancer UK is an incredible organisation / charity that supports those living with pancreatic cancer and their families, as well as funding world-leading research to help discover a cure for pancreatic cancer. Less than 1% of those diagnosed survive pancreatic cancer for 10 or more years. This devastating disease has taken far to many people, and will continue to do so. By making donations and fundraising, we could be one step closer to eradicating pancreatic cancer for good. Pancreatic cancer has also affected my family personally as I lost my grandfather to Pancreatic Cancer in 2011. He was a brilliant man and never failed to make me laugh. I still think about him everyday and always strive to do my best for him. I will forever treasure the amazing memories.
