24 for Dennis

By Lauren Stevenson

I am fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Pancreatic cancer is tough – tough to diagnose, tough to treat and tough to research. And, in the uncertain times we’re currently experiencing, things have become even tougher for people with pancreatic cancer.

I’m taking on Challenge 24 at home to raise money for this vital cause because 24 people are still dying every day from pancreatic cancer.

Please support me and my fundraising. Together we can make a difference and fund life-saving research.

My donations could fund...

32 hours with a nurse on our Support Line

or

14 hours of early diagnosis research

Day 13

Thank You & Target Increased

Hi everyone!
Thank you so much for all your support and donations.
Thanks to you I have managed to beat my first target of £224 and my second target of £524, so I have increased for £724.
I'll keep on powering through despite the fact it is difficult to climb stairs and sit down or stand up.

Dear Dennis: A Personal Essay

24 for Dennis

I had a very complicated relationship with my Dad. It wasn’t always easy, actually it was rarely easy towards the end, and yet I would still give anything to have one more day, one more conversation, one more piece of advice, to watch one more film or listen to one more album with him. In the 19 years we had together he taught me a lot and over the past few years, I have earned for his wisdom and understanding so acutely it feels like a punch in the gut. He was the OG liberal snowflake - he taught me compassion, he instilled in me a love of film, music, art and creativity, he highlighted different cultures through food and conversation. So much of who I am is down to him. Grief never ends. I will forever grieve the loss of him and wear my Dead Dad Club badge with sadness. Pancreatic Cancer is a bastard, let’s be real all cancer is a bastard. In honour of Dennis Stevenson I’m doing the Challenge 24 for @pancreaticcanuk I’ll be doing a workout a day for 24 days, min length 24 minutes. This will probably definitely sound like an easy challenge to a lot of people, but I have done zero exercise for the majority of my life. If you fancy donating the link is in my bio, I’m going to suggest a £2.40 donation. I have a target of £224. I know a lot of people are struggling financially at the moment, if you can’t donate consider following @pancreaticcanuk on Instagram and sharing some posts. I will be putting together some more informative posts that people can share over the next few weeks. Once I’ve finished this challenge, I might roll into another Challenge 24. Doing it for poppa 💪🏼

Fantastic challenge in honour of a fantastic man. I've gone £24, as that's £2.40 x 10 ( because this is worth so much more than one times). Lovely photo of you, joe and your dad. He educated me on some films too. City of God was one he loaned me and an not watch it without thinking of him. Good luck x
