This charity is so close to mine and my familys heart. My dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer in May 2020. After a 3 month battle, he sadly passed away in August 2020. This disease is so cruel and it has taken my dad away from us too soon at the age of 57. He will miss out on so many special occasions such as walking me down the aisle on my wedding day. Although, he did manage to see my engagement.
My dad was a fit and healthy man. You would have never expected this to happen to him. He cycled to work every single day and has ran several different marathons throughout his life.
Anyone that met my dad always described him as a loving and caring man, who would do anything for anyone.
I feel that Pancreatic cancer is tough to diagnose, tough to treat and tough to research. This is the reason I feel so strongly about this charity. If we can prevent or diagnose the cancer earlier more people could survive this terrible disease. Pancreatic cancer has the worst survival rates of any of the 21 most common cancers, with fewer than 4% of patients surviving for five years or longer following diagnosis.
Me and my partner Robbie are hoping to take part in some fundraising events in 2021. We are looking into doing the 3 peaks challenge or the tough mudder.
