I am walking to raise funds for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month

Pancreatic cancer is the deadliest common cancer. More than half of people die within three months of diagnosis.

Survival rates for other cancers have improved dramatically in recent years. But decades of underfunding mean we still don’t have the tests and treatments to tackle this disease. People with pancreatic cancer have been overlooked and ignored for far too long.

That’s why I’m fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK and I'd really appreciate your support. Your donations will support vital, world-leading research, ensure specialist nurses are there to take more calls and fuel campaigns to drive positive change.

Together, we will bring more than hope to people affected by pancreatic cancer.

My donations could fund...

3

hours with a nurse on our support line

1

hours of early diagnosis research

Day 4

Achieved the milestone of walking 24,000 steps on a workday today! Woop, woop!

It did mean a pre-5am start in order to get 10k steps in before sitting down to a 8am-5pm wfh day. I think I only added a couple of hundred steps for the whole day!

After work I took a quick trip to Bedworth Tesco (I can confirm the travelator is working today 😉), and opted for a long dog walk, leaving me 4,000 steps short. So what else could I do but turn around and do a bit more walking in the dark! 🤣

Probably not the most exciting way to get 24,000 steps in but I did it though! 🎉

Day 3

Day 3.
It’s Sunday. I had no real plans and just wanted to chill out for the day and potter around the house. The last thing I wanted to do was walk 24,000 steps! So what did I do? I decided to Eat that Frog and just crack on and get it done!

So out the door I walked (before I had a chance to change my mind!🤣) and quickly realised I needed to decide on a direction (I deliberately never walk the same route for safety’s sake). So today, I decided I would walk past every house I have lived in in Bedworth. 🏡

I detoured down the canal to listen to some lovely bird song (and a cockerel!), polishing off over 16,000 steps before 10am.

Quick regroup, and I was out the door again to go food shopping, detour to Greggs for a much needed sausage roll, and a final lap around the block to hit 24,000 steps before 2pm!

NOW, I get my lazy Sunday 😁 I think I’ve earnt it!

Day 2

Another 24,000 steps down!
Today I thought I would check out the ‘delights’ of the local industrial estate 🤔, I walked past a place I used to work, went shopping in Cov with Jessica (and lapped the lower presinct 7 times while I waited for her to pay!🤣), and then ventured off to watch the fireworks at Kenilworth castle.

Lessons learnt from today:
1, It’s amazing how many steps I can add to my day if I actively try.
2, Walking with people is way better than walking alone.
3, Doing a challenge like this makes me everso slightly obsessed with my step count. 😬

Day 1

Feeling pretty good on the first day. 😁 It helped that the weather was good and it was my non-working day!
Being the day after halloween meant I got to see lots of houses all dressed up with decoration that I otherwise would have missed, or just driven past.
Check out my video on Facebook for some clips!
