I am fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

In late August last year we lost our precious Miranda to Pancreatic Cancer. She was our rock. A loving wife, mum, sister, daughter, auntie, grandmother and friend. When she was diagnosed in July we only had a short while with her before it ended up taking her from us. From the start of her diagnoses Miranda did nothing but be positive and strong for every single member of our family. 

Anyone who knew Miranda would agree with me when I say she was the most loving, thoughtful and selfless person I have ever met and a role model to us all. I’m doing this challenge to raise money for more research and resources for those who are diagnosed and living with this disease. 24 miles in 24 days is the goal but I want to smash that goal and I’m aiming to do 50 Miles in 24. If this is what I can do to help those families like our own who have been effected or to help the people fighting the disease then this will be a small token of my gratitude to all of them. 

Every mile I do I know Mdog will be with me every step of the way. I’ve decided to start this challenge on the 2nd of August which would be her birthday and finish on the 26th of August - which would have been the last day we had with her before she passed.

First Week finished!

So i’m officially one week into my challenge! the support and praise i’ve got from friends, family and kind wishes has been completely overwhelming! I’ve raised £623 and done 24/50 miles already and we’re only 7 days in. This past week has helped me reflect on myself and most importantly, Miranda. Whether I’m cycling or walking i know she’s always there cheering me on. Both her songs came on while i was doing my challenge, a tear was shed but I knew that was her way of telling me she was there. Thanks so much for everyone’s support - here’s to the next couple of weeks and many more miles  

First Day!

Started my Challenge today for Pancreatic Cancer on a very special day. Miranda’s Birthday. I decided to walk Castlewellan Forest Park as it was one of her favourite places and we spent many Sundays walking around the lake as a family and walking the dogs. This place holds a special place in my heart and always reminds me of her. 4 mile done and plenty more to go!
