My Updates

For Our Ceri šŸ’œšŸ–¤šŸ©·

My dear friend Ceri is 44 years old. She has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. It’s inoperable, and it has already spread. And in just a few weeks, things have progressed heartbreakingly fast.Ā

There will be no more treatment, only comfort, love and end-of-life care. Ā

And all this just 18 months after she nursed and then lost her mum to the same horrible illness. Ā It's just not right or fair.

Ceri is one of the most important people in my life. A best friend. Ā We met at university (the first) and built a home from home together in those years, with our good friend Emma too. Ā A little trio of girls, our home filled with mutual warmth, humour, support and understanding.Ā

Our Ceri is sharp, kind, fiercely loyal, funny and even now, incredibly selfless.

When I told her I wanted to do a fundraiser, she asked me not to raise money for her, but for others:

She wanted any donations to go directly to Pancreatic Cancer UK, to help fund research, improve diagnosis, and support other families facing what she and hers are going through.

So that’s what I’m doing. This is for her, and I’m asking for your help.

Pancreatic cancer is often diagnosed too late. Survival rates remain unacceptably low, research is underfunded and progress is slow.Ā

There isn't a simple diagnostic test (even for people who's mum just died of it). Ā That HAS to change.

Please donate if you can.

Every bit of money you give honours Ceri’s courage, our love for her, and helps Pancreatic Cancer UK push towards earlier diagnosis, better treatment, and more time for patients.

The first thing I will do is a 10k run in Bournemouth in October 2025 (Bournemouth Supersonic). Ā I am fat, have hated running for at least 30 years and Ceri found the thought of me doing it very amusing when we discussed it recently. Ā Fair play, she said "cos I wouldn't" šŸ˜‚Ā

This one’s for you Ceri! Ā Love you so much, mate x x xĀ
