We are fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK: Team EDC
Pancreatic cancer is tough to diagnose, tough to treat and tough to research. Every year 10,000 people are diagnosed with this awful disease with only 8% surviving beyond 5 years. One in four people die within one month of diagnosis. These statistics are heartbreaking enough but more recently, our family has been impacted by this dreadful disease. And this is why we have chosen to take on the challenge of cycling London to Paris, 300km in 24 hours for Pancreatic Cancer UK next May. Whilst Conor is a cyclist, I have only just overcome the technical issue of not owning a bike...and now I have 6 months to become a proficient road cyclist! Whilst this may be a considerable challenge, it's nothing compared to the bravery of two very loved women in our family. Very sadly, earlier this year my family Aunty, Mair, lost her battle to pancreatic cancer. Mair could light up a room with love and we know she'll be one of our biggest cheerleaders as we reach the Eiffel Tower. Jo, my cousin is currently facing this exceptionally brave fight and her determination and strength inspire us every day. So when the going gets tough and we question what on earth we are doing, we'll have a word with ourselves that our challenge is nothing compared to that faced by Mair & Jo. We will carry them both in our hearts every peddle of our training journey and every moment of our London to Paris ride. Please help us make a difference in raising money to facilitate earlier diagnosis, extend treatment options and increase survival rates. Every single penny will make a difference. Thank you so so much, Karen & Conor x (along with 'Team EDC' members Lisa & Grace raising money for the oesophageal and gastric cancer research team at The Christie Hospital, Manchester)
My donations could fund...
50 hours with a nurse on our Support Line
or
22 hours of early diagnosis research
