I'm raising funds and awareness for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month

Pancreatic cancer is the deadliest common cancer. More than half of people die within three months of diagnosis.

What am I doing?

Raising awareness of the symptoms so you know to see a GP if you experience one or more of the most common symptoms for more than 4 weeks:

- back pain,

- indigestion,

- stomach pain

- and weight-loss.

I'll do this by running for 24 days in November; each run being a minimum of 2.4 km and 24% of runs being over 5km. You're right, it's not an incredibly gruelling series of ultra-marathons but I hope to have raised awareness.

What do I need from you?

- Understanding that you know what the symptoms are and to seek help.

- Sponsorship - this research isn't go to pay for itself. Please donate what you can.

- Playlists and words of encouragement - I'll need them for those dark days in Nov when I'll be trapsing the streets.

Why Pancreatic Cancer UK?

24 people die every day to pancreatic cancer. In September, one of those people was Joe Furniss - I'll be thinking of him and those who love him during this challenge.

The disease’s vague symptoms mean it often goes undetected until after it has spread to other areas of the body. No screening or early detection tests exist to help doctors diagnose the disease. Tragically, around 80% of people are diagnosed is at an advanced stage when it is too late for lifesaving treatment.

Survival rates for other cancers have improved dramatically in recent years. Underfunding mean we still don’t have the tests and treatments to tackle this disease.

That’s why I’m fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK and I'd really appreciate your support. Your donations will support vital, world-leading research, ensure specialist nurses are there to take more calls and fuel campaigns to drive positive change.
