I am fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.
In this mad old world we currently find ourselves living in, the charity sector has taken a massive beating. The loss of events such as the London Marathon amongst so many others, leaves a huge gap in the necessary income generation for research and support for so many organisations.
So this month, along with my sisters back in the land of Oz, I will be embarking on a physical challenge in exchange for your kind donations.
I know there are no friendly cancers, but pancreatic is particularly nasty. It’s aggressive and stealthy, and the stats on survival are pretty grim. Here in the UK, 24 people die from pancreatic cancer every day, hence the challenge 24. Even though I’ve run before, I certainly don’t consider myself a runner, (unless 18 month hiatuses are normal?) Anyway, in the last week of May, I will run 24kms across 3 days. I’d love to do it in a oner, but that simply isn’t realistic and the NHS do not need to be looking after me and my foolish injuries right now.
My sisters Karen, Lucy and Steph will be undertaking their own challenges on the 31st May as well - a united International campaign if you will.
Pancreatic cancer is tough – tough to diagnose, tough to treat and tough to research. And, in the uncertain times we’re currently experiencing, things have become even tougher for people with pancreatic cancer.
Please support me and my fundraising. Together we can make a difference and fund life-saving research.
My donations could fund...
12 hours with a nurse on our Support Line
or
5 hours of early diagnosis research
