I am fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK. Double Marathon in the Coldswolds.

Gail Jamieson and Sally Polkey have decided to take on a huge challenge to raise much needed funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Our original challenge, Race to the Castle in May, has been cancelled by the organisers due to the storms earlier this year destroying a large portion of the route.

However, all is not lost. Sally and I have transferred to Race to the Tower which is at the end of June and consists of 2 back to back marathons. Yikes!

We will be running, jogging and walking Day 1: 26.5 miles with 4250ft of elevation and Day 2: 27.2 miles with 3640 ft of climb in the beautiful Coldswolds.

This will involve months of hard training over the Winter and Spring months to safely build up our endurance and nutrition capabilities💪. We will keep you updated with our progress.

Pancreatic cancer is tough to diagnose, tough to treat and tough to research.

Please support us and help make a difference to pancreatic cancer.

Thank you so much in advance. Every penny counts!

My donations could fund...

24 hours with a nurse on our Support Line

or

11 hours of early diagnosis research

My Updates

Bib has arrived

It's 2 weeks until Sally and I stand at the start line to face the biggest running challenge of our lives. Race to the Tower, double marathon weekend.
My training is still going well. Lots of back to back weekend runs and shorter midweek ones.
This week I am delighted to have achieved a really strong 10km performance at the club's summer road league race and today my best ever 5km park run. Yay.
Tomorrow we have an excellent training session in the form of a 16 mile White Horse Hardmoors Race.

In 5 weeks time, Sally and I should be finished doing our double marathon Weekender

Training is going well with increased back to back weekend mileage.

Had some lovely company this weekend with Liz S and Sally. It truly makes the miles go by quicker.

Today's trail run incorporated up and down hills in Brayton Braff whilst completing the Selby Horseshoe Loop. People must think we are crazy.

UPDATE: Race to the Tower

When Sally and I received the dreaded email saying RTTC was being cancelled we were bitterly disappointed. Once the realisation had sunk in we started looking at alternative Ultras.

Race to the Tower looks amazing, in the beautiful Coldswolds and only 4 weeks later to our original challenge.

So training plans are getting tweaked and I'm scaling back the weekend long runs slightly in order to not peak too soon.

Bring on RTTT!!

2 month count down

In exactly 2 months, Sally and I will have completed day 1 of our multi-day Ultra. How exciting is that!
My training is going really well with 2 back to back weekly sessions. Tuesday and Wednesday's 5 and 6 miles followed by longer and longer Saturdays and Sundays runs. Currently up to 16 and 10 miles back to back on the weekend.

Training plans

Happy New Year. It's 2022 and the real hard work begins. Training plans printed, daily mileage calculated from kms to miles, and week commencing dates worked back from race day.

It's just starting to get very real. Over 2 back to back marathons: Day 1. 34.2 miles, Day 2. 28 miles. But its achievable and exciting.

Please donate 🙏 ❤ to an amazing charity.
