Feld's Fabulettes are fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month
Elaine, Faye, Esther, Caroline, Jan, Lilian,Juliet, Sue, Maria and Rona are so proud of our amazing friend Robert who has been showing pancreatic cancer that he won't give in! He has shown more courage, determination and strength than we thought would be possible in the face of such a cruel diagnosis.
Pancreatic cancer is the deadliest common cancer. More than half of people die within three months of diagnosis.
Survival rates for other cancers have improved dramatically in recent years. But decades of underfunding mean we still don’t have the tests and treatments to tackle this disease. People with pancreatic cancer have been overlooked and ignored for far too long.
That’s why we are fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK and we'd really appreciate your support. Your donations will support vital, world-leading research, ensure specialist nurses are there to take more calls and fuel campaigns to drive positive change.
Together, we will bring more than hope to people affected by pancreatic cancer.

Day 15 HALF WAY!
W O W thank you everyone for all your support, we are halfway through this challenge and so far have clocked up 887 miles and a whopping 1,450,000 steps, and that's not counting the impressive sit ups, squats, lunges, press ups that everyone is doing on a daily basis and the outstanding skipping by Jan skipping 240 skips per day! Bernie's cycling, he's up to 186 miles against his target of 240. A little cold water swimming in the mix too!I have been completely overwhelmed by your generosity in response to my previous email below. Not only by the financial generosity you have shown, which is of course, so important to the Pancreatic Cancer UK but also by the texts, emails and letters I have received from so many of you. The love and support from these messages are palpable for me and I can actually feel their uplifting effect on my wellbeing and outlook on reading them.
I, too, have been inspired by others, not least the lovely Faye who, having her own battle with cancer, has emerged with the positivity and strength to organise the Fabulettes in support of the Charity. My stepdaughter, Gemma, fought her battles with a year old baby and showed unbelievable courage to emerge stronger than ever and also continuously finding ways to support cancer charities, cancer patients and other afflicted by cancer. My brother Richard who was always a guiding light and mentor to me unfortunately succumbed to cancer only 7 weeks after diagnosis at the age of 43 with 2 young children. Sir Chris Hoy has also been remarkable in talking about how he has dealt with his diagnosis and much of what he says resonates very strongly with my own thoughts and feelings. But perhaps my biggest inspiration is my cousin, Sir Clive Bourne ,who when diagnosed with prostate cancer was told he had a life span of 18 months but lived a full life for another 17 years during which time he founded the Prostrate Cancer Research Foundation and built in Hackney one of the most successful academies in the UK which has changed the outlook for countless children in what was a deprived area of London. The common thread of all these heroes is to keep hope at the forefront and to do everything possible to give a better outcome for other sufferers of cancer.
As we now know early diagnosis in any form of cancer can be a huge game changer in terms of treatment. It is gratifying that, through the actions of Sir Chris Hoy, so many more men and especially young men are being tested and there is no doubt this will save many lives in the future. What I would ask you now to do is to spread the word for cancers such as Pancreatic Cancer where symptoms do not present early and diagnosis is either through invasive or expensive procedures so that more research and energy needs to be spent on finding better means for early detection. In this respect I would ask you to forward my emails far and wide and even to people you may think I already know, as my email address book is far from complete, and I would much rather friends received my emails three or four times rather than not at all.
Fortunately, I was born with a half cup full and having all your support and encouragement fills that cup to the brim. Special thanks also goes to the Feld Fabulettes pictured above but missing my one male Fabulette, Bernie! They have already raised nearly £15,000 and anyone who still wants to donate can do so at :
