Trekking The Inca Trail

By Ewan Simpson

I'm fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Last year, I decided to hold my first charity event: Shave At The Rave. I decided for it to be in support of Cancer research UK after the passing of my nan. Through this, I managed to raise an astounding £1,500 which was an incredible achievement and far more than I was ever expecting!

Since then, I have decided to start organising charity events on a yearly basis for causes that have significant meaning to me and/or my family.

In October 2025, my grandfather passed away from pancreatic cancer after a long, fruitful and joyous 47 years with my gran (affectionately known as Grandy by our family). They embarked on many travels together, spanning from the Americas to the Middle East. Many of which I only found out about after his passing, so I never had the chance to hear his stories. One of these journeys sparked my interest however... The first major adventure that Grandy and Keith took on together. Travelling around Peru and finding their way to Machu Picchu in 1984.

Therefore, this year's event shall be hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, in memory of Keith, with my best friend. This will be the first major adventure abroad for both of us which is why it seems so fitting to go to Peru, mirroring Grandy and Keith's trip 40 years ago. All while raising money to help those who may be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the years to come.

My donations could fund...

0 hours with a nurse on our Support Line

or

0 hours of early diagnosis research
