I'm fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month
This month is Pancreatic Cancer awareness month and I’m walking 5 miles a day to fundraise.
In November 2022 we lost our Nannny to this very disease. After a long struggle with her health and many unanswered questions she was diagnosed and given months to live, we got a few weeks.
Pancreatic cancer is the deadliest common cancer, taking the lives of 24 people a day. More than half of people die within three months of diagnosis.
Survival rates for other cancers have improved dramatically in recent years. But decades of underfunding mean we still don’t have the tests and treatments to tackle this disease.
That’s why I’m fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK and I'd really appreciate your support. Your donations will support vital, world-leading research, ensure specialist nurses are there to take more calls and fuel campaigns to drive positive change.
Together, we will bring more than hope to people affected by pancreatic cancer.
My donations could fund...

49
hours with a nurse on our support line

23
hours of early diagnosis research

SNOW DAY!!! Woke up to a beautiful flurry of snow!
Day 17+18
Well… What a two years it has been. I’ve not been sure what to write for her anniversary post but as usual I’m just going to pour out whatever comes as I sit here typing.

Day 15

Day 14
A small day of walking today. After a busy day at work we had a night of socialising with old friends so a small walk through town it was.

Day 12

Day 7 - Dads Birthday
A day of celebrating! Big Linds in 60+1 today. Happy birthday dad!
Day six- mile 32
32 miles down. 118 to go.
Day 5 - a night of fire works
What a night for a walk, I think I was more scared from all of the exploding fires in the sky rather than their beauty! Max joined me for all 5 miles tonight. We talked a lot about “the big C”. But why the big C? Why not say it as it is, Cancer. Because it’s never going to go away. It will never change. It’s something we will always hear and be affected by.
Day 4, a walk with my thoughts
After what can be described as a stressful evening this is exactly what I needed! 1 and a half hours of my and my thoughts. Tried a different route and had fun people watching. I will never understand how people really enjoy running! But whatever keep you healthy! Share
Day 3- friends and family
Today was the first day I’ve broken up the 5 miles. 3 miles playing frisbee with friends then 2.5 night time walk with max. Again discussing the effect of cancer on us as individuals. Continue to talk, trust in those around you. The more we talk the more we learn and the more we educate! Your fact today- pancreatic cancer is the 5th biggest cancer killer in the uk. It takes the lives of around 10,000 people a year. Share
Day 2- with Rachel
Day 2 was a good one. I started by walking into kingsheath to get some brunch food for Rach and I. A leisurely 2 miles… then the hard bit hit. Rachel and so choose to do a bit of running. I don’t run. But I was really proud of myself as I managed to run for 2.5 miles of the remaining 3! We had some really good conversations about cancer and the effect it has on us and those around us. 1 in two of us will be directly affected by cancer. This is a crazy statistic. I said to Rachel I try not to dwell on this fact, live in ever moment, take every day as it comes and don’t take life too seriously. We only have 1 and you never know what’s around the corner. Thanks again for all the donations 💖 Share

Day 1. When 5 miles is actually 6!
Started today walking up Falkirk and finishing at my wee nanny’s flat where all this crazy sh*** happened! Almost 2 year to the day of diagnosis what a time to fundraise! I listened to a great podcast on my walk.Thank you to my Sponsors
