I'm fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month

This November, I'm challenging myself to walk 24 miles each week to reach a total of 96 miles by the VSCC Winter Driving Tests on November 30th. Any support you can offer through a donation would mean so much. To conclude the challenge, I'll be hosting a Cake Sale at the Winter Driving Tests - come along to enjoy some of my fresh, homemade cakes! All proceeds will go directly to Pancreatic Cancer UK.

This cause holds a special place in my heart, as my Nan was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in September 24. I want to honour her strength and resilience by doing something meaningful that she can be proud of.

Pancreatic cancer is the deadliest common cancer. More than half of people die within three months of diagnosis.

Survival rates for other cancers have improved dramatically in recent years. But decades of underfunding mean we still don’t have the tests and treatments to tackle this disease. People with pancreatic cancer have been overlooked and ignored for far too long.

That’s why I’m fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK and I'd really appreciate your support. Your donations will support vital, world-leading research, ensure specialist nurses are there to take more calls and fuel campaigns to drive positive change.

Together, we will bring more than hope to people affected by pancreatic cancer.

My donations could fund...

128

hours with a nurse on our support line

62

hours of early diagnosis research

My Updates

Challenge Complete

November has come to an end and so has Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month. I managed to just exceed the 24 miles a week and with my 2.4 mile walk on Saturday at the Winter Driving Tests I managed to walk 100 miles in total.

The Cake Sale and Tombola was a huge success and over the weekend we managed to raise over £1000 none of which would be possible without the generosity of everyone who attended the Driving Tests. A special thank you to Kim & Ian and my Mum Jackie who helped with the cake sale & tombola without their help I wouldn’t have raised any where near as much money as we have done. Also to Rob Downey & The Outdoor Pig Company for their huge donations to the Tombola. Other thanks must go to The VSCC for allowing me to run the cake sale and Tombola and for all their support throughout the whole month, Adam Jones, Peter Hanna & Adrian Ducker, Rupert Clark, My cousin Hannah, and anyone else who I might have missed who donated to the cake sale & tombola thank you all! Finally a huge thank you to everyone for their support in what has been a difficult time at home, it means the world to all of us.

In total with your help we’ve manage to raise £3276 throughout November which is more than I could have ever imagined and all going to a great cause that has become very dear to me and my family over the last few months. Any other donations can be made until the 13th December and any more money raised will just add to an already amazing figure.

Final week

I’m now into the final week of my challenge and once again I’ve had to raise the goal again! I couldn’t do this without all of your support so thank you again.

Only 4 days to go to the big finale at the Winter Driving Tests and 2 days into baking all the goodies that will be going on sale. So far I’ve made Tiffin, Flapjacks, Millionaires Shortbread and a whole load of mess in the kitchen which I’ll tidy up ready to start again tomorrow night with Brownies and then on Thursday night I’ll. make a start on the Victoria Sandwich Cupcakes.

I have also had a whole range of donations for the Tombola, so it is looking like the attendees at the  VSCC Winter Driving Tests at Bicester will have plenty to choose from!

Thank you again to all those people who have supported me to raise money for this worthwhile charity.

Week 2

A second week down and another 24 miles. Although a day in London on Friday meant that I am playing catch up going into week 3 having to do 4 miles to for a few days to claw back the deficit. We have also now managed to raise almost £1,500 and I might have to raise the target again especially with the cake sale and tombola still to go. I have a large variety of cakes to bake next week ready for Saturday’s Winter Driving Tests and if anyone has anything suitable to donate to the Tombola that would be greatly appreciated, wine, gift sets etc. and Thank you all again for your donations it means a lot to raise this much for such a great cause.

Week 1

First week over and done with and 26 miles done. A huge thank you to everyone who’s donated so far. Only another 72 miles to go!
