Dyeing my hair... again.

By Dylan Bal

I am fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

On August 21st, I lost my grandad to a cancer which is not only tough to diagnose, it is tough to treat and research is desperately underfunded. Less than 1% of people survive pancreatic cancer for 10 or more years and the improvement in that survival rate has not changed in the last 40 years.

That being said, my grandad saw the fun side of life and that's something he's passed on to everyone around him, including me when I asked him about dyeing my hair the first time. Much to the disappointment of my mum, he told me to make the most of life and have fun with it.

So once again in November I'll be dyeing my hair purple and embarrassing my mum by ruining Christmas photos but I hope I'll also be raising awareness of this cancer in one of the most noticeable ways possible.

Please support me and help make a difference to pancreatic cancer. Any donation would be greatly appreciated by not only myself but everyone who is impacted by pancreatic cancer.

My donations could fund...

19 hours with a nurse on our Support Line

or

8 hours of early diagnosis research

My Updates

It's done!

Having raised £328, I've surpassed my goal and thought I should add an update for all who couldn't follow along with my instagram story! (@dylan.bal1)

I have indeed Dyed my hair! Well, bleached ad dyed! I expected to go blonde (as I had done previously when bleaching my hair) but ended up with a ginger shade instead! Topping that off with the purple has lead to a shade slightly darker than I expected but it also really depends on the lighting around me.

Again, I can't thank you all enough! I'll be sharing some of the photos here but if you want to see any, let me know!

PS: Here is the result! (I can't upload multiple images to this site but will share them all on facebook/instagram!)

Thank you!

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far! I only have £13.91 until my goal and am extremely humbled by all of your support and am weirdly looking forward to looking like a fool!

It's looking like I will be dyeing my hair on Saturday, November 2nd and will be sure to upload some images here and on my social media!

Well, don't worry about what mum thinks, you'll probably lose it anyway (Imagine the horror if you commented adversely on mum's hair!). So have fun dyeing your hair. Raise lots of dosh & to placate mum, tell her that you are going to do the MOONWALK next May for Breast Cancer charities by donning a bra & walking 26.25 miles around London!
