I'm fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.
Last year, my wonderful brother-in-law Martyn was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It was a huge shock for him, his wife Lisa, their daughter Eve, and of course for all of us—family and friends alike.
Thankfully, Martyn’s diagnosis was treatable, but the journey has been incredibly tough. He underwent major surgery followed by 12 gruelling rounds of chemotherapy. He has shown such courage and strength throughout, and in honour of him, I want to help raise both awareness and vital funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK.
My lovely friend Lisa introduced me to the world of HYROX and suggested we take on the challenge together. For those who don’t know, HYROX combines running with functional workout stations: run 1km, complete a workout, and repeat—eight times over! We’ve signed up for the Birmingham HYROX on Friday 24th October.
We’re both 54-year-old working mums, and while this will be a tough challenge for us, it’s nothing compared to what someone goes through during cancer surgery and treatment.
We would be so grateful for any donation—no matter the size—to support this incredible charity. It will not only make all the training and effort worthwhile, but also help us feel that we’ve done something meaningful for Martyn and for others facing pancreatic cancer.
